Compared to Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which also featured dual protagonists, Shadows’s protagonists play differently with Yasuke more about being combat-focused and loud, while Naoe does ninja things by keeping to the shadows and applying stealth as much as possible.
Each character will have an array of weapons and skills that complement their play styles. Naoe will have a series of assassinations, equipped with kunai, the notorious hidden blade, and a grappling hook. She’ll be vulnerable compared to Yasuke but her defense is more focused on deflecting blows and dodging incoming attacks. As for Yasuke, he will be able to use Katanas for fast strikes, Kanabo for raw power hits, and Teppo for long range.
Thankfully players can switch characters out in the open world. The only time you can’t switch is when you’re on a unique mission for that particular character.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to release on November 15, 2024, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through the Ubisoft Store, and Epic Games Store.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
