Anno 117: Pax Romana Revealed: New Era of City-Building Set in the Height of the Roman Empire
/During the 2024 Ubisoft Forward event, Ubisoft announced the next installment in its beloved city-builder franchise, Anno 117: Pax Romana, set to release worldwide in 2025. Developed by Ubisoft Mainz, the creators of Anno 1800, this new title immerses players in the height of the Roman Empire, offering an expansive, multicultural territory to explore.
In Anno 117, players will take the role of Govenor, so expect you being responsible in paintaining peace in the region while enforcing Roman law while meeting local citizens’ needs. On top of that, you have the freedom of traditional city building mechanics with a deep economic simulation and 4X features such as diplomacy, military, and narrative layers.
The changes in Anno 117
Anno 117: Pax Romana is aimed to deliver a new visual identity for the series. “We've refreshed Anno's visual identity to carry us into the next decade with a clear purpose: cultivating the joy of building. Without taking ourselves too seriously, we've infused humor and fun into our brand storytelling, reflecting our community's spirit!", says Haye Anderson, Brand Director.
Another key change is that for this iteration, players will be able to choose their starting province. Either the Celtic Wetlands of Albion, a land filled with mysteries where no civilized Roman wants to be, or the traditional Roman heartlands, Latium, close to the hungry heart of Empire. Each of these provinces will offer a different set of challenges and opportunities for the player to seize and tackle.
Anno 117: Pax Romana is set to release sometime in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has the potential to be a favorite for fans of the franchise, delivering an authentic Indiana Jones experience with its story and cinematic presentation. While the game shines in its exploration and puzzle elements, the combat and stealth mechanics’ lack of gameplay variety holds it back.
