Ubisoft’s New Free-to-play BattleCore Arena Now Out on Early Access
/Ubisoft has suddenly announced the launch of BattleCore Arena, a free-to-play competitive platform shooter, now available on Early Access. You can jump into the action via Ubisoft Connect, the Epic Games Store, and Steam. As a special celebration, players who participate between June 6th and June 13th will automatically unlock an exclusive “First Wave” banner, marking their place as some of the game’s first early adopters.
What is BattleCore Arena?
In BattleCore Arena, you play as a spherical Core navigating multi-tiered maps, battling gravitational forces, and outmaneuvering opponents with physics-based movement. The gameplay includes rolling, dashing, jumping, and double-jumping to gain an edge. Equip yourself with a diverse arsenal of ranged weapons suitable for close-range impacts or mid-distance power, and utilize perks to evade danger, eliminate enemies, or assist allies.
Game Modes and Customization
BattleCore Arena features a variety of competitive PvP modes:
Backup: A 3v3 team deathmatch where coordination and strategy are key.
Q-Ball: A thrilling mode where holding onto the eponymous Core leads to victory.
Free-for-all: A solo mode perfect for testing individual skills or warming up for ranked matches.
Customization is a major highlight. Players can personalize their Cores with a range of cosmetic options including armor, lights, banners, and elimination explosions, ensuring they stand out in the heat of battle.
Ongoing Updates and Community Engagement
Early Access is just the beginning for BattleCore Arena. Ubisoft plans to release new seasons loaded with the usual content updates for a live service game such as arenas, equipment, game modes, and cosmetics. Player feedback will be integral, as the development team aims to build the game alongside its community.
Just like any online games out today, each new season will come with a Season Pass, unlocking exclusive cosmetics like core skins, armor skins, elimination explosions, and more.
BattleCore Arena began as a passion project by three developers, which gained significant attention after winning the first prize at a video game festival in Bordeaux. Ubisoft quickly recognized the potential of the game and brought the original team into Ubisoft Bordeaux to expand and realize the full potential of the project.
You can give the game a try today through Ubisoft Connect, the Epic Games Store, or Steam. Those who play BattleCore between June 6th and June 13th unlocks the exclusive “First Wave” banner.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
