Ouya - a new Android based home console

Ouya console What if I told you that there exists a home console powered by an OS that is used mostly on smart phones and tablets? Sounds weird enough as it is. But what if I told you that it is also legitimately hackable?

A new home console called Ouya has just been announced called Ouya. It is based on the Android OS, is worth $99 (USD) and is an open/hackable console. Surely enough this sounds very unique and very different. The fact that it's 'open' brings up a lot of possibilities, not just limited to game but with apps and such. Games will be free early on with microtransactions and monetizations being handled by the developers themselves later on. The controller looks like it takes inspiration from both the PS3 and Xbox360 controllers as well as the WiiU. With the standard 4 face buttons, D-pad, and dual-analog sticks as well a 3.5 to 4-inch touch screen.

Specs for the Ouya console are as follows: Tegra 3 Quad Core Processor 1GB of RAM 8GB of internal flash storage HDMI port (supports up to 1080p) Built-in WiFi Bluetooth LE 4.0 USB 2.0 port

This bizarre but awesome sounding console will become a reality if it's kickstarter project reaches $950,000 (USD) goal by August 9th of this year (08/09/2012). There are already a few developers onboard such as Canabalt's Alex Saltsman and Minecraft's Mojang.

You can pledge a minimum of $1 and there are exclusive rewards if you pledge a higher amount, all of which are on the kickstarter page for Ouya. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouya/ouya-a-new-kind-of-video-game-console

As of the writing of this post, there are 7,675 backers for this kickstarter with a total pledge of $954,940 (USD).

Resident Evil 6 demo out now on Xbox 360 for Dragon's Dogma owners

Resident Evil 6 The demo for Resident Evil 6 is now out on Xbox Live since yesterday. If you bought a copy of Dragon's Dogma on the Xbox 360, you can start downloading the demo which contains one mission of each of the three campaigns in the game. Just in case you didn't buy Dragon's Dogma on the Xbox 360, I gathered all three demo's for our viewing pleasure.

Thanks IGN for creating the video with some commentary.I prefer trying the game myself, but this will have to do for now. I was originally planning to get Dragon's Dogma on my 360, but to my surprise, the 360 version was actually out of stock. So I bought the PS3 version instead. Enough of my rant, here are the videos below.

Chris Demo

Jake Demo

Leon Demo

Have no idea why IGN doesn't have Leon, so I found another source.

With Resident Evil 6 having three campaigns, the demo shows that each campaign has a different tone. Chris is more action oriented with him actually going against non-infected enemies, Leon is toned downed and looks to be the horror part of the game, going through zombies, dark corridors. Jake's campaign has this Nemesis-like gameplay which looks to have a different feel as well. It seems they divided the different types of gameplay seen in past Resident Evil games to satisfy old and few fans of the series.

What I don't get is Xbox 360 demo coming out months before the PS3 version. We are not talking about a week early too, the Playstation 3 version is set to be released around September 4, that's nearly a two month lead. It's definitely a marketing strategy coming from Capcom, but a two month gap is a bit over the top.

Resident Evil 6 is coming out on October 2, 2012, for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with a PC version to be released in the future.

Yet another delay, this time for Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 delayed Apparently game delays have become a trend for 2012. Ubisoft is pushing back Far Cry 3 from its September release all the way to a December release. Ubisoft said " We’re taking a little more time to create the best possible gameplay experience.”

The delay was announced during Ubisoft's press release. Far Cry 3 is now set to be released in North America on December 3, with the UK getting the game first on November 28, then Europe on November 30.

Damn those delays. But hey, at least it isn't pushed to 2013. To get your mind off the announced delay, check out the latest demo footage of the game from this year's E3.
