E3 2018: Titanfall Developer's Star Wars Game Tease Was Surreal
/ Matthew ArcillaE3 doesn’t officially start until a few days from now, but that won't stop developers from making weird off the cuff announcements unprompted. That's okay, I've been on stage before too and sometimes you get nervous and say things like you're a loot box being opened and random words are coming out.
Amid a strangely low key back and forth conversation between host Andrea Rene of What’s Good Games and Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella, a game called Jedi: Fallen Order was announced. It was barely an announcement, to be honest, like some strange convulsion had occurred and we got a glimpse into the future and there were no gameplay trailers or 13 minute ViDocs.
It’s like they cast a spell on him and he was caught off guard and forced to admit the game’s existence. Like really, what happened. Later in the night, we got a bit more clarification. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will tell the story of a Padawan surviving the Dark Times, that period after Episode III when Jedi are being hunted, and will supposedly arrive in Holiday 2019.
Somehow, Respawn Entertainment is going to make that game in between a third Titanfall game and still-untitled VR game for Oculus Rift.
Capcom also revealed that Devil May Cry 5 will feature three playable characters. It’s anyone’s guess as to who those might be, but safe bets are on Dante and Vergil.
