Four Fighting Games Are Free-to-Play, Others On Sale, On Steam Right Now

Four of the biggest fighting games on display at this weekend’s Evo 2018 are free to play this weekend on Steam. That includes Dragon Ball FighterZ, Street Fighter V, Tekken 7 and Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle. But wait, there’s more: Injustice 2 and Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator- are discounted too for the duration of the weekend.

Evo 2018 is pro gaming’s biggest fighting game tournament. It celebrates some of the best players in the world duking it out in digital brawls and while most of us are content to watch from the streaming sidelines, others can take advantage of this weekend to get in some practice rounds. It begins tomorrow, August 3, with pools for the big main stage games.

Evo isn’t just about the tournament scene though, as it’s also an opportunity for companies to show off their upcoming fighting games to a captive audience of genre enthusiasts. Which is why we’ll be seeing Soulcalibur 6 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that evening.

Saturday will host the finals for Injustice 2, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U while Tekken 7, Street Fighter V and Dragon Ball FighterZ get settled on Sunday. The absence of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is a glaring omission that’s surely a disappointment to the Marvel Vs. scene, but oh well.

In any case, enjoy the weekend of free fighting. We’ll see you on the other side of a fighting game hangover.
