Cyberpunk 2.1 Free Update Adds a Fully Functional Metro System and More
/CD Projekt RED is not done improving their sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077 as they just revealed that the upcoming 2.1 major free update will include a fully functional metro system for Night City, replayable car races, improved boss battles, more accessibility features, and more.
The big one is the addition of the metro system, where after a certain point in the main story, will be given full access to the feature that allows you to fast travel from various locations in Night City. But the team went a step further as players can experience the train ride themselves, sitting in a card and seeing different NPCs riding with them to their destination. The developers mentioned they hide a few fun things in there, so it’s likely worth the trip to see what you’ll encounter.
Radioport is another feature that players will soon realize they need in their Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough as this simply allows players to enjoy any of the many radio stations in the game outside their vehicle. Simply put, you can listen to the radio while walking around Night City.
New vehicles were also added to the game, as well as upgrades were done to motorcycle handling. Players can also participate in replayable race cars. The update also includes new hangout spots for your preferred romantic partners and more accessibility options such as the ability to remove the timer in the Breach Protocol minigame.
The 2.1 update is also said to improve the boss fight experience, notable for the Adam Smasher boss fight as they’ve not only improved the boss’ AI but they also equipped him with the famed Sandevistan upgrade, as seen from the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.1 update will go live on December 5, 2024, for all platforms, the same day the Ultimate edition of the game hits shelves. This edition is simply a package deal that includes the base game and the expansion Phantom Liberty, which was released back in September.
CD Projekt RED did the impossible by doing a complete 180 in their latest RPG which had one of the most terrible launches for a high-profile title back in 2020. Now in 2023, it feels like a completely different game, especially with the last major update that launched alongside the game’s expansion, which completely overhauled the game’s skill tree, greatly improved the game’s police response, car chases, and a ton more.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
