Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish Is Now Live and Is the Final Season Before The Final Shape
/Bungie’s final season for their looter shooter Destiny 2, Season of the Wish is live and delivers a range of seasonal activities and rewards while moving the overall story forward in preparation for the game’s next expansion The Final Shape launching on June 4, 2024.
It’s no surprise but Bungie has made it official, The Final Shape has been delayed by months, pushing it from the initial February 2024 launch date to June, effectively making Season of the Wish close to six months long.
Will this latest season keep players occupied for the entire first half of 2024? Only time will tell as Season of the Wish launches with new features and content to bring life to the live service game.
Season of the Wish to tie The Final Shape
It’s a vital season, and we have Queen Mara Sov once again at the forefront of the seasonal story as they tackle the discovered Ahamkara egg to make a bargain with the wish dragon, Riven. All of this effort hopes this will create the final pathway into the Traveler and face off against The Witness once and for all. Like in previous seasons, weekly story missions will slowly be released to prepare us for The Final Shape. Then, we have the Riven’s Lair activity to grind and slowly earn the seasonal rewards.
A new Dungeon awaits
Seasons aside, it’s the usual content refresh that you’d expect from Bungie, but the real excitement revolves around the new dungeon called Warlord’s Ruin going live this weekend, December 1. It’s the final Year 6 dungeon for Destiny 2 as the last dungeon added to the game was during Season of the Deep with Ghosts of the Deep. Not much is known about the three-man activity but we do know it players will be fighting Scorn enemies in what seems like a Dark Age castle setting.
This completes the Lightfall Dungeon Key as those who purchased the key instantly gets access to Ghosts of the Deep and Warlord’s Ruin.
Warlord’s Ruin officially goes live on December 1, 9 AM PST.
A new Collaboration and Fireteam Finder
Additionally, Season of the Wish launches with a new collaboration as they partner with Polish studio CD Projekt RED to deliver a series of Witcher-inspired cosmetic content for Destiny 2. This Witcher x Destiny 2 collaboration launches unique Witcher-themed armor sets for all three classes, emotes, finishing blows, ships, and more cosmetics. Those interested can purchase these unique cosmetics through the game’s in-game store with Silver, the game’s premium in-game currency only earned by buying it with real cash.
Another great addition is the first step on Bungie testing out the highly anticipated Fireteam Finder feature, as a stress test was conducted on November 30. Only a small amount of players were able to try out the new feature and Bungie has yet to announce if there will be more stress tests to try out the new feature, which simply allows players to find other Guardians interested in doing group-only activities like Dungeons, Raids, seasonal activities, Strikes, and even PvP matches.
Lastly, Crucible players will be able to play the map Crucible this season as it comes back into the rotation.
Bungie was in the spotlight back in October thanks to the layoffs that occurred at the studio together with the first report that The Final Shape expansion would be delayed due to the restructuring happening at the company and the current state of the game this year. Since the news broke out about the layoffs and the delay, Bungie made The Final Shape expansion delay official just recently as they prepare their game to shift into its final season, before it converts to the new Episodes format introduced during The Final Shape expansion showcase back in August.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
