Dark and Darker Now on Early Access, but Not Through Steam
/The roguelike battle royale extraction game Dark and Darker is now in early access, but due to the ongoing lawsuit with company Nexon, the new version of the game is not available on Steam but through their official website or Chaf Games.
It was a surprise announcement from the Korean developers as no prior tease from the company was released or any sense of marketing. The community in social media and in the game’s official Discord heard a possible release was imminent but nothing official until it was eventually made available.
“The Dark and Darker Early Access has finally begun! It has been a long and arduous journey, but we have finally made it to our first major milestone. We would like to thank all our fans who believed in us and supported us through the many challenges.” says the developer in their announcement post.
“Through many trials and tribulations, we have toiled ceaselessly to bring the game to our fans. We are happy to announce that fans can now access Dark and Darker through multiple avenues.”
How do you get in the early access of Dark and Darker?
With the game now in Early Access, playtest sessions are no longer a thing as the game will be available for the rest of the game’s development cycle, and those who purchased the game through their official store will have access to the game’s early access.
There are two options — the standard edition for $35 or the Founder’s Edition: Hold the Line which costs $50. The standard provides access to Early Access and five Bluestone Shards, while the Founder’s Edition adds exclusive skins like the Skeleton race skin, a blue Torch skin, a ‘Hold the line’ emote, and access to test future content.
It’s not clear if further issues will come with the game as it is going through an ongoing lawsuit, making it possible that further disruption could occur in the future. For now, they are pushing on with development while making its local community access to the game’s latest version.
This will be music to the ears of kids who grew up on the series, but for the uninitiated, there’s nothing quite like the Mario & Luigi games. Mario & Luigi Brothership does its best to appeal to a wide range of players with charming presentation and a strong new Battle Plug system, but not everyone will be enamored with its reflex-testing gameplay.
