Square Enix To Shut Down Echoes of Mana on May 15
/The free-to-play RPG on Apple and Android mobile devices will shut down its services on May 15, Square Enix announced.
“Since Echoes of Mana's launch on April 27, 2022, we've strived to provide an incredible and enjoyable gaming experience for our players every day that could exceed the day before. However, we've come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue maintaining the app experience, and to therefore end the app service.” Square Enix said in their announcement post.
The game didn’t even last a year before announcing their closure.
Starting today, you will no longer be able to purchase Spirit Crystals, the game’s premium in-game currency that can be earned with real money. Players that do have Spirit Crystals still available can still make use of them until the servers officially closes.
With the game shutting down in a few months, in-game events will be scheduled leading up to the end of the game’s service, though the announcement did not provide what to expect to its remaining players.
This isn’t the first free-to-play online game announcing their closure this year as February started with a series of shutdown announcements one after the other. Rumbleverse, Knockout City, Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile are all set to shut down their servers in a few months.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
