EA Establishes New Studio Called Cliffhanger Games, First Title Is a Black Panther Game
/Electronic Arts has announced that a new studio called Cliffhanger Games was established in Seattle and their first project will be a third-person single-player game based on Marvel’s Black Panther.
This announcement comes on the 57th anniversary of the Black Panther comic which debut on July 10. Though nothing substantial was mentioned about the game as the news is simply stating that a triple-A title of the hero is in the works.
The project is led by Kevin Stephens, and the studio consists of studio veterans that have worked on titles such as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Halo Infinite, God of War, and the Call of Duty franchise.
According to Kevin, the newly established studio is “dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich SuperHero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do,”.
“We’re still early in development with a long road ahead, but we know the foundation to any great story is to build an experienced team with diverse voices and perspectives and that’s what we want to build, especially with a superhero as important as Black Panther.”
It also seems like they are in the process of filling up the team as there are job listings still available.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
