Freedom Wars Remastered Set to Launch January 2025 with Major Enhancements
/Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia has announced the highly anticipated return of Freedom Wars with a remastered version arriving on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Originally a PlayStation Vita cult classic, Freedom Wars Remastered will be available on January 9, 2025, for consoles and January 10, 2025, for PC, offering a fresh experience with significant upgrades.
The remastered edition of Freedom Wars introduces a range of enhancements, including 4K resolution, improved textures, and smoother gameplay at 60fps. These improvements are paired with an overhauled weapon crafting system and streamlined gameplay mechanics, ensuring a more modern and polished experience for both returning fans and new players alike.
Survive or Perish in a Dystopian World
For those unfamiliar with Freedom Wars, the game is set in a bleak future where pollution has devastated the planet, humanity now resides in massive city-sized prisons called Panopticons. Living itself is a crime, and newborns are condemned to serve a million-year sentence. Known as “Sinners,” the only way to earn freedom is through combat missions that secure resources and rescue abducted citizens.
In Freedom Wars Remastered, players will again take up arms as Sinners, using specialized Thorn weapons to traverse environments and battle enemy factions. The game’s unique three-dimensional movement system allows players to grab onto terrain and enemies, severing limbs and collecting resources from fallen foes. As you fight to reduce your prison sentence, scavenged materials can be used to upgrade weapons and improve your odds of survival.
Better features, and Co-op Play
Alongside the core gameplay upgrades, Freedom Wars Remastered introduces difficulty settings, offering more accessibility to new players. The Panopticon’s prison system plays a crucial role in shaping the player’s journey, allowing them to earn Entitlement Points that unlock new freedoms like running or reclining in a seat.
The Panopticon’s community is vital to survival. Up to four Sinners, whether controlled by AI or through online co-op, can team up for challenging missions. This collaborative mode encourages players to work together, tackle tougher enemies, and gradually reduce their million-year sentences in this fight for freedom.
As mentioned earlier, Freedom Wars was a PlayStation Vita favorite when it launched on the handheld in 2014.
Lego Horizon Adventures transforms the serious world of Horizon Zero Dawn into a playful experience geared towards younger gamers. With a lighter story, fun character twists, and familiar machines recreated in Lego form, it serves as a charming introduction to Aloy’s universe. While hardcore fans may find it a bit basic, it’s ideal for friendly, family-oriented play with loved ones of any age.
