Gran Turismo 7 patch 1.07 to reduce credit earnings in some races

Patch 1.07 for Gran Turismo 7 delivers fixes and improvements to the racing simulator, but it unfortunately comes with a nerf to credit earnings in some of the game’s most lucrative races, making the game more of a grind to get the most expensive cars available.

Fans are not happy with the changes to how much credits you can earn in major races that the discussion has now led to many thinking Polyphony Digital is pushing more people to the game’s microtransactions, where you can buy in-game credits with real money.

Provided by reddit user FMecha here’s a rundown of the reduced payouts in each race affected below.

As of this writing, Gran Tursimo 7 still remains under maintenance but a few users confirmed that the changes to the credit earnings as you can see below.

This is a big surprise as in my Gran Turismo 7 review I pointed out the game was already a grind at launch if you’re looking to own the most expensive cars in the game, and while it did have a daily reward system tied to the game’s roulette feature (which I’m not happy about), it’s not enough credits to go around, especially with how much is needed to fully upgrade a single vehicle.

Even Steve Alverez Brown, a famed content creator in racing games and known as SuperGT online, expressed that he will never spend on GT7’s microtransactions as a “matter of principle”, pointing to the current credit earning issue and that the game is already a grind to begin with.

You can check the official patch notes for version 1.07 here. The patch features a number of fixes and changes to the game, like some races giving players the wrong tires was addressed. Also, the patch adds a new broadcast mode that removes all licensed music tracks, making the game more streamer-friendly.

Gran Turismo 7 is now available on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
