Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess set to launch in 2024, new details released
/Capcom announced that their newest IP Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is set to launch sometime in 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, and will also be available through Xbox Game Pass.
Announced last year, this new trailer gives us a good idea of what the gameplay is like as it’s a action strategy hybrid where you help villagers fend off evil entities. During the day, players will have to purify the village and their villagers, preparing defenses, arming villagers, all in preparation for an assault by hordes of enemies at night time. The trailer also shows some unique boss fights that seem to occur in-between the day and night cycle gameplay.
Capcom has released more information about this game, giving us an idea of the game’s story, the setting, and the characters you’ll meet.
Story
The lush Mt. Kafuku, home of the Goddess. An ominous black substance suddenly engulfs the mountain...
A shadow of its former self, the once resplendent mountain and the peaceful lives of its villagers are thrown into turmoil. The source of turmoil, the defilement.
The defilement corrupts the entire mountain, and the twelve masks containing the power of the Goddess are stolen.
The Maiden Yoshiro and her guardian Soh use the power of the masks, work with the rescued villagers, purge the defilement and perform a ritual to return things to normal.
The stained land: Mt. Kafuku
A mountain blessed with abundant nature, where humans and animals live in harmony. Peace was stolen from them when the defilement overtook the land.
Action strategy game merging Dancing sword action and strategic gameplay
The day and night cycle.
During the day, purge the defilement from the villages and position the villagers in preparation for the battle at night.
During the night, give orders to the villagers and use dance-like sword techniques to protect the Maiden from the Seethe.
Players will Sol, the guardian that protects the Maiden from defilement from what they call the Seethe. There are Torii Gates spread across the mountainside and Sol and the Maiden will have to purify each gate as they serve as a gateway for the Seethe to enter their world at night.
The whole game system revolves around Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess’ day and night cycle as the day will consist of you pretty much purchasing any defilement done by the Seethe from previous nights, repair certain contraptions in the village that could help the battle at night, and assign roles for the villagers capable of fighting, giving them specific roles in battle as we see villagers joining the fight as either archers or spearmen.
Once all preparations are set, night comes and hopefully all your preparation is enough as Sol can fight the Seethe at the same time command fighting villagers to properly position them during the fight.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
