Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches October 20, Eddie Brock is not Venom
/During Summer Game Fest 2023, Insomniac Games took to the stage to talk about their upcoming title Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and to reveal that the game will launch on October 20. The interview also revealed an interesting bit of detail about one of the game’s villains, Venom.
When Spider-Man 2 was officially announced, our first look at the game was both Spider-mans teaming up and revealing that Venom will be in the game. Since then, many assumed that this is Eddie Brock’s debut as Venom in Insomniac Games take on the Spider-Man world, but apparently a new character will be the host for the Venom symbiote according to creative director Bryan Intihar for Spider-Man 2. Who will it be? We are not entirely sure as Insomniac wants to tell an original origins story for the villain.
In the history of Spider-Man comics, Venom had numerous hosts with Peter Parker being one of them at some point, thus the debut of the Spider-Man black suit which was revealed during the May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, showing that Peter has new Venom-like moves.
The interview during the show also revealed the game’s official box art for the game, featuring both Peter Parker slowly being consumed by Venom and Miles Morales on the cover.
The reveal of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at the Summer Game Fest was a bit unusual as the big PlayStation Showcase aired a few weeks ago. Why not revealed it then together with the length gameplay reveal. It’s likely to spread out the big details, but with a release date now confirmed, it’s likely we’ll see more of the game in the coming months as we get close to October.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
