Moon Knight Joins Free-To-Play Online Game Marvel Rivals, Abilities Detailed

NetEase Games revealed the latest Marvel character that will join the Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play multiplayer online shooter set to launch on multiple platforms on December 6.

“When crafting Moon Knight's in-game persona, the development team incorporated a color scheme of white and black, drawing from the rich tapestry of ancient Egyptian mythology linked with Khonshu, and added "Egyptian Faience" material to his costume design, infusing Moon Knight's appearance with a mystical and exotic allure.”

“Then, departing from the traditional form-fitting suit seen in the comics, the team integrated technological components and rugged armor motifs into the character's design. This enhances the visual impact while aligning with the game's aesthetic, allowing Moon Knight's aggressive combat style to seamlessly intertwine with the gameplay. Moon Knight can summon a portal above the battlefield, connecting him to the cosmos and summoning the formidable and enigmatic arms of Khonshu, rendering his enemies defenseless.”

Moon Knight Abilities Explained

Moon Knight will be a Duelist character that will specialize in high mobility and will dish out AoE attacks.

His normal attack is called Crescent Darts and his secondary ability is Moon Blad. Both abilities are capable of bouncing between multiple enemies, punishing players that stick too close to each other. But Moon Blade ranged attacks can benefit from Moon Knight’s other ability called Ankh.

Ankh is a special ability that can be fired onto the ground to pull enemies towards the Ankh. If the Moon Knight player attacks the Ankh attached to the ground with any of his attacks like Moon Blade, it will trigger the active Ankh to damage any enemy within the ability’s radius, punishing those that bundle up together. This also gives Moon Knight the chance to hit enemies not in the line of sight, if positioned correctly.

His ultimate ability is called Hand of Khonshu, an AoE ability that will rain multiple spiritual hands that will deal a tremendous amount of damage to enemies caught in its radius. It is said that the duration of the ability is short, but makes up for it in power.

Moon Knight is a pretty mobile character as he has the Moonlight Hook, an ability that launches a frontal grappling hook that pulls the character towards it. He then can passively do a double jump and glide with his iconic cape, giving players the right tools to take the high ground or simply position himself to deal as much area of effect damage as possible to the opposing team.

Marvel Rivals will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
