MultiVersus Is Shutting Down This June, and Will Relaunch in Early 2024
/The DC and Warner Bros online fighting game MultiVersus will be shutting down its servers on June 25, 2023, as the team at Player First Games will be spending the rest of 2023 improving the game based on player feedback since it went to open beta last year on July 26, 2022.
The main focus for the team in preparation for the game’s official launch is to work on new characters, maps, game modes, better progression, and more importantly a better netcode.
You can check out the full announcement from Player First Games co-founder and Game Director Tony Huynh below.
Based on the reactions to the video announcement above, it looks like the community is rather positive about this decision as many seem optimistic and agree that the game needs to be taken down so that the studio can focus on just improving the game.
MultiVersus will be officially delisted from all online stores starting April 4, 2023. Then, servers will officially go offline soon after. If you still want to play the game offline, you can do so if you have the game still installed in your system. Servers may be offline, but you can still access the game’s training mode and local versus while using all the cosmetics and characters you’ve earned since the start of the open beta.
If you do happen to delete the game previously, you can still reinstall the game even after the game gets delisted.
For those that have the Season 2 battle pass of the game, the duration of the current season has been extended to June 25, until servers officially go offline. So, from now until the game goes offline, you can still complete your dailies and complete the Battle Pass. No refund will be given on their respective platforms.
The open beta of MultiVersus is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam). Only a select number of regions have access to the game as MultiVersus is still not officially available in Asia.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
