Based on the first look trailer of the system, it’s much larger and sports various new ports and features. The Joy-cons itself is now redesigned to snap into the sides of the Switch not from the top but from the sides. The console’s kickstand is now much longer and more flexible with a U-shape design.
Nintendo has yet to reveal a price for the new console or a release date, but it’s confirmed to release sometime in 2025.
It was also confirmed towards the end of the video that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with any physical or digital Nintendo Switch game.
The official website provided more details about the feature.
“*Nintendo Switch 2 plays both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.”
