Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 8, Season 2 Operator Can Limit an Attacker's Vision
/Ubisoft has unveiled the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege season called Operation Dread Factor, and there’s a lot coming to the eight-year-old game besides the new Defender Operator.
This season adds Fenrir, a Swedish Defender Operator equipped with a trap gadget that can limit an attacker's vision when triggered. He can deploy 5 of what Ubisoft calls the F-NATT Dread Mine gadget, but the kicker is only three of the five can be active at any given time, and the Operator himself will have to activate a mine one by one.
Fenrir can be equipped with an MP7 or a SASG=12 as a primary weapon and a BAILIFF 410 as a secondary for defense preparation.
Consulate Reworked
One of the first maps that came with the game’s launch was Consulate and next season it will be getting a long-overdue rework to spice up a map we’ve been playing on for years. Ubisoft describes this rework as “more balanced, complex, and rewarding to play.”. We haven’t tried the new map ourselves but at first glance, we can already tell that breaching garage is no longer a thing as it’s now permanently open.
Defenders now have info denial
Another major addition when Operation Dread Factor goes live is the addition of a new Defender gadget called the Observation Blocker. This gadget can be placed on doorways and simply blocks an enemy drone’s line of sight, preventing Attackers from learning how Defenders are preparing the objective site and even hiding which Operator they brought for the round.
Grim adjustments hopefully for the better
The Attacker Grim, which was one of the Attacker Operators announced last year, is considered one of the underperforming Operators released recently and Ubisoft agrees as next season comes with new changes that hopefully increase the Operator's presence in the future.
The swarm that is released from his Kawan Hive Launcher will now charge faster and they’ve increased the chance of catching nearby Defenders when active. The Swarm released will now be bigger and stay for longer, but to balance him with this change they are lessening the time a Defender is tracked when they step away from the Swarm.
Other changes coming to Operation Dread Factor are a Free Camera Feature during Match Replay, and the ability to allow party members to inform their leader that they are ready to queue.
Rainbow Six Siege is on its 8th year of post-launch content and is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
