Redfall Set to Launch on May 2, New Deep Dive Gameplay Video Released
/During the January 2023 Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct, Arkane Studios Austin revealed that their upcoming open-world co-op FPS game Redfall will launch on Xbox Series X\S and PC (via Steam, Epic Game Store, and Microsoft). A gameplay deep dive video of the game was also released to give a better understanding of what to expect.
The deep dive is 10-minutes long and showcases the scale of the game. With this coming from the developers that worked on Prey and Dishonored, there will be multiple approaches to handle each task or encounter. The video also showed off the types of vampires players will face, such as the Shroud, who can shift through the floor to avoid damage.
They also showed vampire nest activities, which apparently change every time you step into one of these areas. It’s meant to be tackled with a group of up to three other players as the goal for that particular mission is to destroy the heart that resides in that vampire nest.
Outside the main story, players can retake each neighborhood in Refall by doing activities that will eventually lead you to defeating a vampire called a Siphon to liberate the area. This eventually leads you to face off against under bosses with unique abilities, then finally - face the Vampire Gods.
The game can be played solo or up to four players and features four characters with their own set of abilities – the long-range specialist Jacob Boyer, the cryptozoology specialist Devinder Crosuley, the engineer Remi De La Rosa, and superpowered Layla Ellison.
There are skill trees to progress and a series of weapons to earn. At one point in the video you’ll find the player looting a bag to find a shotgun. There’s gear rarity, stats, and perks for the weapon.
The video above shows why the developers in Arkane devs compare Redfall to the Far Cry series as some of what was revealed here are familiar to a point.
Redfall is set to be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and through Game Pass.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
