Sony Hides Star Wars: KotOR Remake Trailer, Removes Posts About the Project
/Sony has switched the Youtube video of the Knights of the Old Republic announcement trailer from public to private. It looks like Sony is also removing all mentions of the project on social media.
With a little investigating from users like Twitter user Crusader3456, it looks like all tweets mentioning the remake have been removed from the platform except one.
Reddit and other online platforms started taking notice of the trailer’s removal on September 28, 2023. If you look at PlayStation’s official YouTube channel and go to the 2021 PlayStation showcase playlist, you’ll see it is indeed no longer visible. You can even see the trailer set in private in the PlayStation Blog post focusing on the project.
Simply put, it seems Sony has started cleaning any online presence that associated them with the project. Why? It could possibly mean that they no longer have a solid agreement with the parties involved with the project or that the remake is no longer a PlayStation 5 console exclusive.
It could also mean the project is in dire straits than we thought.
In a report from Bloomberg back in 2022, the project is said to be put on hold due to the recent firings of two key directors of the projects. Since then, there hasn’t been much information or updates on the project. During a financial report back in 2022 for developer Aspyr’s parent company Embracer Group, it was revealed that the studio Saber Interactive will now work together with Aspyr on the remake as it’s considered a “massive project”.
Since then, no official news about the Knights of the Old Republic remake from Saber Interactive, Aspyr, and Sony.
Knights of the Old Republic Remake was the big highlight in PlayStation’s big showcase back in 2021 as it was instantly considered one of their highly anticipated games at the time.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is now my favorite title from the Persona team by far. It’s one of those rare games where its main pillars work harmoniously, and you get lost in its charm. It’s a pristine JRPG, with enough style and substance to satisfy hardcore JRPG fans, Persona fans, and even those who rarely touch JRPGs.
