Strategy Action Game Aliens: Dark Descent Is Set to Release in June
/Aliens: Dark Descent is a squad-based, real-time single-player action game from Tindalos Interactive and Focus Entertainment that’s set to release on June 20, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
The pull is it is a real-time strategy game more than just another shooter, so strategy enthusiasts might get a kick out of this one. As described in the gameplay trailer above, players control a whole unit of marines with their own set of equipment and specialties. Your squads infiltrate large areas and it’s not all about going guns blazing as you’ll need to strategize each approach according to your squad’s strengths.
When a fight happens, players can slow the game down in order to issue commands for each marine. And if a squad member dies, it’s permanent. As you progress, players can then customize their troops and alter the various classes found in the game to have a suitable unit for whatever mission they hope to take on.
Here’s a quick description of the game based on its Steam page.
Manage your resources wisely and take calculated risks to outsmart the deadliest creature mankind has ever faced. Can you and your squad stop the outbreak before it’s too late?
• Face off in a gripping original Alien story against iconic Xenomorph creatures ranging from Facehuggers to Praetorians, Alien Queens and many more, including rogue human commandos and a brand-new threat unique to this Alien storyline
• Lead strategically and change squad tactics from mission to mission, carefully managing your soldiers’ health, resources, and sanity, to avoid permanent team losses and mental breakdowns
• Forge unique paths for survival in a persistent world, uncovering shortcuts, creating safe zones and setting up motion trackers to stay one step ahead of these creatures
• Assemble and level up squads composed of 5 starting Marines classes, with dozens of specializations, unique abilities and weapons.
This will be music to the ears of kids who grew up on the series, but for the uninitiated, there’s nothing quite like the Mario & Luigi games. Mario & Luigi Brothership does its best to appeal to a wide range of players with charming presentation and a strong new Battle Plug system, but not everyone will be enamored with its reflex-testing gameplay.
