Street Fighter 6 Roster Leaks Are Everywhere, but Capcom Is Taking It Pretty Well
/Capcom last week gave us a good glimpse of their upcoming fighting game Street Fighter 6 during Sony’s June 2022 State of Play, showing gameplay footage for the first time as well as revealing the game’s mechanics and game modes planned for the game. Soon after, a major leak surfaced online, revealing the supposed full roster of the game. Capcom have addressed these leaks and they seem to be taking it well.
You can check out the roster leaks either in Reddit or Resetera, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve seen the leaks as you do your usual stroll in your social media circles because it’s pretty much all over the internet now. The leaks also don’t stop with roster as there are gameplay footage of unannounced characters.
It’s so widespread that Capcom can’t contain it and has addressed it by appreciating the enthusiasm shown from their fans after the leak broke out.
Even a tweet from Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama released a statement on Twitter saying “We've seen something you shouldn't see”, further solidifying the validity of the leaks.
The big shocker is the reception of these leaks as it seems like fans are pretty happy with what they see from the leaks and has now turned into a positive situation that fuels the excitement for the upcoming fighting game.
You don’t see this kind of reaction from such a heavy leak, as fans are now making lore theories of unannounced characters, and even go as far as making fan art of iconic Street Fighter characters based on their supposed new character design. This is probably the best outcome for such a massive leak.
Still, assuming the leaks were mostly accurate, the magic of guessing who will be available in Street Fighter 6 has been ruined, so how Capcom will reveal the rest of the game will likely change thanks to the information now out in the world.
Thankfully, a situation like this only happened to one the two big games that they talked about last week. Capcom also officially announced the remake of Resident Evil 4.
Street Fighter 6 is planned for a 2023 release for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
