The Cycle: Cataclysm Event Detailed, Goes Live on September 22

Details on The Cycle: Frontier Cataclysm going live on September 22.

Yager have finally laid out the details on what to expect from the upcoming Cataclysm event for their high-risk shooter The Cycle: Frontier. This event goes live on September 22 and will last until Season 2 goes live on September 28.

According to a blog post from Yager regarding the Cataclysm event, dropping down to Fortuna III from September 22 to September 28 will be a different experience as it sounds pretty chaotic. Based on the changes to the game during the event, it does sound like Season 1’s final curtain call before we all transition to the new season.

Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect from the event.

  • Increased spawn rate and speed of meteor showers.

  • New alien Meteor Shards find in meteor core (for legendary weapon crafting)

  • Better loot from monsters (expect more heads to drop)

  • Increased spawn rate for rare mineral nodes

  • Shorter days and more frequent storms

  • Evac is only possible during a storm

Some of the changes may sound scary, but it’s a nice sendoff for players to really just go nuts with their gear, loot rare materials and craft higher tier weapons and gear, pretty much have fun with what they still have in storage before the game’s first official seasonal gear and progression wipe, which will occur once Season 2 goes live.

The Cataclysm event is also accompanied by patch 1.7.0 which mostly applies a few bug fixes to the game. The most notable change in this patch is the full restoration of the cheater compensation feature, just in time for the new season.

Yager has not mentioned the exact time the event and 1.7.0 will be implemented on September 22, but we’ll update this post once more details are released.

Season 2 of The Cycle: Frontier goes live on September 28 which adds a new endgame map called Tharis Island, which is said to have a few secrets for us players to discover.
