The Last of Us Part II Remastered Launches on PS5 on January 2024, Adds a New Roguelike Game Mode
/Rumors of The Last of Us Part II Remastered were swirling around these past few days. However, Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment have made it official that the PS5 version of the sequel is coming on January 19 that essentially adds new content.
Visually, it’s a stunning game on the PS4, but it says this versions will have increased tecture resolution, increased level-of-detail through far distances, improved shadow cquality, and more. But the major difference in this native version of the sequel will benefits from faster load times and 4k output in Fidelity mode with 1440p upscaled to 4k while in performance mode. The real meat for the upgrade is the addition of new costumes, the lost levels, the freedom to go nuts with the game’s impressive guitar and the new survival mode called No Return.
Lost levels seem to be content that was cut from the final product as the game was already long enough. Based on the trailer above, you’ll be able to roam Jacksonville more and control different characters for the first time, likely to provide a different perspective on the overall story.
Lastly, we have No Return, a new roguelike game mode that allows players to play different characters that have unique traits. Each encounter seems to get harder as you progress and you’ll be given the option to customize or get upgrades to hopefully progress further. This mode will feature a global leaderboard. More details will be shared about this mode in the near future.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered will have a $10 upgrade option for anybody who owns either the physical or digital copy of the PS4 version of the original game. A W.L.F. edition for the remaster was also announced. A package that contains a steelbook display case, four enamel pins, a Washington Liberation Front Patch,47 Society of Champions trading cards, and eight holographic cards.
Preorders for The Last of Us Part II Remastered go live starting December 5, 2023.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
