The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Is One of the Lowest Scored Game in Metacritic, Devs Issue Apology
/Developer Daedalic Entertainment released their latest game The Lord of the Rings: Gollum last week on May 25, 2023, and is currently one of the lowest-scored titles on Metacritic this year as it stands with a Metacritic score of around 36 with a user reviews score of around 1.4. With the current reception this game is receiving, the developers issued an apology for the current state of the game.
Our development team has been working diligently to address the bugs and technical issues many of you experienced. We are committed to providing you with patches that will allow you to enjoy the game to its fullest potential” says Daedalic in the apology.
No timetable was given when the developers plan to deliver improvements to the game. Though, the bugs and technical issues aren’t the only issue that caused such a negative reception from critics and players as the game’s overall design isn’t shaping up it being a fun game in general.
Many reviews and players have noted the game’s lack of proper level design, poor stealth elements, control issues, and lackluster activities. Even the game’s visuals have taken a hit from those that played it as many are confused about how a game with this quality would even recommend PC specs with an RTX 3070 or higher.
Lord of the Rings: Gollum was announced back in 2021 but was delayed in 2022, then again to May 2023.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
