The Next PlayStation Showcase Will Be Next Week, May 24
/Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced the next big PlayStation Showcase will go live on May 24, 2023.
According to a blog post, the showcase will run over an hour long and will focus on PS5 and PS VR2 games currently in development from studios under PlayStation Studios. They also confirmed that there will be third partners and indie studios that will make an appearance during the show.
The showcase will go live on May 24, 1 PM Pacific time / May 25, 4 AM GMT +8, and can be viewed live through PlayStation’s official Youtube and Twitch channels.
This was teased a few weeks back with journalist Jeff Grubb and VGC reported that the next big PlayStation Showcase will happen the week of May 25. Well, I think that’s as accurate as you can get.
What do expect from the PlayStation Showcase?
This will be Sony’s big showing to give viewers a glimpse of what triple-A titles to expect in the second half of 2023 and beyond. Naturally, Sony didn’t give much as we’ll have to wait for the Showcase itself but expect E3 levels of reveals as this event officially starts the season of showcases and shows from the video game industry’s top companies.
Notable titles that could make an appearance in Sony’s showcase are Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine, and quick possibly another look at the Knights of the Old Republic remake, a title that has been quiet since its announcement back in 2021.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
