Vincent Valentine Will Not Be a Fully Playable Character in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
/The 2023 Tokyo Game Show is currently in full swing and Square Enix has been showing off a playable demo of the upcoming JRPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and answering a few questions about the game. One of those questions answered is if the second game will feature Vincent Valentine as a fully playable character, and it looks like he will not.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed with IGN that the former Turk will be joining Cloud’s group in Rebirth but will not be a fully playable character where you can customize and level him up like the rest of the group. He will be an AI-controlled character, similar to when Red XIII was introduced in Final Fantasy VII Remake towards the final moments of the game.
Cid Highwind, another member destined to join the gang, will also be AI-controlled similar to Vincent. These characters are likely reserved to be playable in the third and final game of the trilogy.
It’s not a complete loss as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth does feature Red XIII, Caith Sith, and Yuffie as playable characters.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch on the PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
