Planetside 2 gets a release date

Sony Entertainment Online has now given a release date for Planetside 2, a Free-To-Play online shooter. This will actually be considered an MMO because this FPS is about huge scale battles with thousands of players, and again, it's going to be free to play. Get ready to pick one of the three factions, because Planetside 2 hits on November 20.

Planetside 2 aims to provide a true all out war. With thousands of players on a huge map battling on either land or air, it's going to be chaotic real fast.

What's interesting about Planetside 2 is that there's a lot of roles to pick from to assist in this massive battle. First off, you get to pick a specific class for your soldier. Then there's also vehicles and equipment that lets you be effective against certain units like air vehicles for example.

It's quite a surprise that Planetside 2 is actually going to be on a Free-To-Play model. Thousands of players in one map is not an easy thing to maintain, but the Free-To-Play model has proven itself over and over that it's possible to stay alive with no monthly fee. There will be of course an online shop to buy cosmetic items, but the shop will not be selling weapons or rather items that would give you an advantage. Everything is accessible without spending a cent, but of course there will be items solely for looks that it would be hard to resist.

Will definitely check it out when it hits on November 20.

Terraria for consoles gets a teaser trailer

Terraria, the Minecraft-like 2D side-scroller is finally hitting consoles. A teaser trailer for the console was just released by 505 Games and is scheduled for an early 2013 release. Check out the trailer below.

I personally loved this game. back in 2011, during Steam's Holiday Sale, I managed to pick this game up on a discount and I'm happy that I did. It literally got me hooked for hours when I first fired it up the game. You literally start with nothing and must build everything from the materials around you. It's very familiar to Minecraft, but the side-scrolling style gives it a nice old school twist. Plus, the bosses are a real challenge.

At the end of the trailer, the mentioned new content for the console version. Great addition, but I really hope 505 Games doesn't leave the PC community in the dark. There is still no word if the added content will hit PC. If it never does, well that's just plain sad. They sold 1.6 copies because of the PC community, so I really wish they provide the same amount of content for both versions so that one version is not inferior to the other.

Terraria will be out hopefully by early next year on PSN and Xbox Live.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is done revealing playable characters

If you're still hoping for that small chance that your favorite Playstation character will join Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, well it's not going to happen. Well, for launch at least. It was revealed that Sony has revealed all playable characters on launch. The game will be released with 20 characters. Disappointing, I know.

PlayStation social media manager Sid Shuman tweeted it confirming that they have revealed the full launch lineup for the game.

There's still the possibility of characters coming in via downloadable content, so there's still hope for characters such as Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and many more characters that would be a perfect addition. I'm actually scratching my head right now to the fact that Cole Mcgrath's good and bad side are taking two spaces of the 20 character roster.

Video game release dates: October - December

A couple of highly anticipated titles have already been released in the past two months, but more are on the way that could leave a bigger hole in your wallet if you're not careful. XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Dishonored,and surprisingly Black Ops 2(That Zombie Mode) are on my day 1 buy list. Resident Evil 6 was supposed to be on the list, but I have this feeling to not jump the gun on this one. I played the public demo a couple of days ago and it actually gave me second thoughts about getting it.

Pinoy 2D Fighters and Pinoy PS brings you Prepare to Fight!

Looking for a place to show-off your skills in Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom 3? Well, you should consider dropping by the Best of Anime convention this weekend then. Pinoy PS and Pinoy 2D Fighters will have a fighting game tournament at the convention for Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition 2012 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

The two tournaments is separate, one starting on Saturday, and the other on Sunday. Here's the info:

Saturday( September 15) - Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition 2012

Sunday( September 16) - Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3

Registration for the tournament closes at 1pm, and the tournament will start at 2pm.

Entrance fee to the venue is 175php, 300php for both days. For the tournament, you will need to pay only 70php.
