Tekken 7: Fated Retribution Launch Tournament Happening At Playbook Circuit
/Bandai Namco is partnering with esports brand Team Spooky to bring Rage Art, a tournament event for Tekken 7: Fated Retribution that will be held at Playbook's Makati Circuit branch on June 3, 2017. The price pool for such an event? PHP25,000 thanks to Xsplit, Challonge, and Player.me.
Victor Fontanez, founder of Team Spooky and also known as Spooky, has contributed a lot to the fighting games community as a whole and continues to do so with an event like this happening in the Philippines.
“Many times I have been called upon by various regions all over the world who love fighting games, small and large. I have worked tirelessly to promote their skill, passion, and brotherhood. Upon my arrival to the Philippines I found myself observing many great players who fight with the strongest passion, for prize pools so small that I can clearly see they fought only for their pride. I was compelled to put my skills to use once again, as I desire to learn their stories while showing what they can do to the rest of the world. With Rage Art, I hope that you too will come to love Philippines Tekken, and that it will be the beginning of a new age of eSports here” says Victor Fontanez.
He's right with the players here. As long as we can remember, the most known fighting game in the Philippines is Tekken. The Tekken community here is huge and we have amazing talent that can give any Tekken player from other regions a great fight. Let's also not forget Filipino player Alexandre “AK” Laverez, who is considered a Tekken prodigy and the youngest pro Tekken player. AK is still at it and recently reached top 8 in big tournaments like King of Iron Fist 2013 and King of Iron Fist 2016. Not a simple feat indeed. With Rage Art, it's good to see the Philippine Tekken community finally getting the much-deserved support.
