Warhammer: Vermintide 2's First DLC Is Playable Even If You Don't Own It

Warhammer: Vermintide 2's first DLC, Shadows over Bogenhafen is out now on PC. While picking it up will set you back $10, players that haven't bought the DLC can still play the new maps.

That's right, the new DLC doesn't divide the player base by letting everyone access the new maps -- The Pit and The Cleansing -- through the game's Quick Play mode. So while direct access to the maps is limited to those who have paid for the DLC, everyone else can get dropped in the new maps through matchmaking.

Those that do pick up Shadows over Bogenhafen get a ton of new cosmetics, weapon illusions, quests and challenges in addition to direct access to the new maps. Regardless of whether or not you pony up the cash for the DLC, Vermintide 2 is a fantastic coop game. You can read my full review of the game here

The release of Shadows over Bogenhafen was preceded by a patch that tweaked the game and squashed several bugs. If you and your friends are looking for a new coop experience, give it a shot and get ready for a massacre.
