Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Is Free To Play On Steam This Weekend
/Developer Fatshark's excellent co-operative first person rat-smasher Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is currently enjoying a free weekend on Steam. That's right the game is free to play and will remain so until September 3rd, Monday.
We've covered Vermintide 2 quite a bit. Earlier this week, Carlos wrote about how the recent update attached to the Shadows Over Bogenhafen DLC features content available to players who haven't purchased it. He also wrote our review for the game, calling it a "perfect example of building [on] the first game’s successes while [...] improving [upon] where it fell short."
The Vermintide series is basically a dark medieval version of Valve's Left 4 Dead, substituting hordes of zombies with diseased rat folk called Skaven, and featuring even more brutal and satisfying combat. Co-op action goes up to four players, who must work together to fend off the Skaven, scavenge gear to survive and live to see another horrible day.
The first Vermintide – clumsily named Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide – was released back in 2015 and received a fairly positive reception, enough to justify the development of Vermintide 2. The sequel introduces a brand new enemy type, the Rotbloods, as well as numerous changes to reduce exhausting grind and encourage gear experimentation.
If any of that sounds appealing, try the free weekend on Steam. It goes on until Monday, September 3rd. And if you feel particularly taken, you can pick up a copy or four for you and your friends at 50% off or P324.97. That’s a pretty great price for a grand ole hack, burn and slash party.
