Dragon’s Dogma 2 Looks Like Its Sticking to Its Strengths
/During the Capcom Games Showcase, we get a little bit more information about Dragon’s Dogma 2. It isn’t much, but it’s enough to excite fans of the series as it seems like Capcom is simply sticking to the game’s strengths and simply improving with what they’ve already established.
Dragon’s Dogma’s AI Pawn system is here to stay
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an open-world action RPG with the ability to play the game with three other AI companions. These companions act differently as they provide unique opportunities like holding a monster down for you to attack or giving you a boost to reach a flying enemy. It’s so unique that even to this day if you play the original game, the AI companions wouldn’t feel like they are dragging you down but actually be key members of your party.
The Pawn system in the sequel will work just like the first game — you create your very own main pawn, then recruit two other pawns created by other players to form a party of four.
It was great to hear during the showcase that the main concept of the pawns will not change as they simply improving the AI in order to make it seem like you are playing a co-op game with other players, allowing them to make key decisions or guide you to where you need to go. They are also improving the game’s physics and other technical improvements that will support not only the Pawns but the enemies and the whole combat system as a whole, giving players multiple ways to handle a situation.
Another good piece of information revealed during the showcase is the fact that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be four times the size of the original game but didn’t specify if this is a completely new area or somewhat the same location as the original, just scaled bigger.
It is also confirmed that Medusa will be one of the new monsters in the game as the latest trailers mostly featured enemies found in the first game like the Gryphon or Goblins. New Vocations were also mentioned though the main three, Warrior, Archer, and Mage, will still be the base vocations at the start of the game.
Lastly, Capcom pointed out two key characters in the sequel’s main story, which are featured in the new key art (shown above). On the right, we have Ulrika, a bow wielder that is supposed to have a deep connection with the Arisen, the player’s character. Then, we have Nadinia, a high priestess of the beastren, a new beast-like race appearing in the series for the first time.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 currently has no release date or even a release window, but it will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (through Steam).
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
