Far Cry 6 features a cockfighting mini-game

Far Cry 6 is the latest entry in Ubisoft’s long-running open world FPS series and it comes out tomorrow. Content creators have been playing the game and as they explore the world they noticed that one of the mini-game is cockfighting. But this isn’t a simple game of betting on a rooster and hoping you win a few bucks. You get to control the animal in the form of a fighting game.

Think Tekken but with roosters as the mini-game is complete with it’s own character (rooster) select screen and a UI built for a fighting game. The roosters battle in a 2.5D plane and they can dodge in all 4 directions, can perform two attacks, and even perform a special move which builds up faster when you get hit. There’s even three difficulty levels for the mini-game, with two locked at the beginning.

Each match is a best-of-three rounds and thankfully no fatalities are done once a rooster is deemed a winner.

Open world games are filled with various activities to distract you from the main objective, but I never thought one would prolong their journey of overthrowing a vicious dictator thanks to a cockfighting mini-game. Ever since Far Cry 6 was announced, it comes across a game that tries to not take itself so seriously, and with this being in the game, I’m curious what other unusual activities are available once players explore the fictional country Yara.

How unique can each rooster be in Far Cry 6’s cokfighting mini-game? Will Ubisoft expand on this and give online support for the rooster fighting game? Most likely not, but many will find out how deep a mini-game like this will be as the game officially comes out tomorrow on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
