/The Street Fighter 6 Showcase that was hosted by Lil Wayne concluded and revealed new information on the upcoming fighting game. It was also revealed that a new playable demo is available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 for all right now.
Street Fighter 6 demo available to all today
This demo focuses on giving players a taste of the game’s World Tour mode, Street Fighter 6’s take on a single-player story mode that has character progression as you get to level up your very own character. In this mode, players can expect RPG elements such as improving their character with a unique skill tree while being mentioned by any of the 18 launch characters in the game and equipping gear that will actually have effects on their moves. Items can be bought to heal health and stat boosts as well.
The demo features only the first few moments of World Tour though players can create their custom characters through the demo now as their creations can be transferred to the full game as long as it’s on the same platform.
On release, Players can then bring their unique character from World Tour into Battle Hub to join custom avatar battles against other players online. Players can create Clubs with friends and other players in the game.
New Street Fighter 6 details from the Showcase
During the Showcase, Capcom revealed new details on Street Fighter 6, showcasing the game’s accessibilities, visual detail of characters as matches progress, features that will help newcomers in the game and assist veterans in improving their game, and more. Here’s a rundown of what was mentioned.
Classic Fighting Game Experiences with Some Extra Spice
As a celebration of the entire Street Fighter series, we are introducing the Battle Damage Feature! During fights, characters will get sweatier, develop cuts and bruises, along with other signs of heated battle appearing on their faces and clothing. This is only available in certain offline modes and can be turned off in Settings.
Street Fighter 6 is committed to supporting increased accessibility with innovative sound design that tells you how far away you are from your opponent, the height level of attacks, whether an attack is a cross-up, how much Drive Gauge remains, and more.
For newcomers and veterans alike, there are fleshed-out Tutorials, Character Guides, and Combo Trials, which provide a solid foundation for each character.
Our third Control Type to go along with Classic and Modern is Dynamic, where you can unleash a character’s flashy moves with a single press of a button!
Arcade Mode is a single-player mode where you’ll face off against the computer and learn more about each fighter’s story. Complete Arcade Mode with each character to unlock and view beautiful illustrations in theGallery. Your scores can also be uploaded to online leaderboards!
Play against other players or the computer by creating a team of up to 5 characters and customize the Match Format to your liking such as Single Elimination, Doubles, and Teams.
Extreme Battle introduces rulesets you’ll need to follow, along with fun features like Running Bulls or our own special version of hot potato. Play in Extreme Battle to learn more about the basics of the game or to unleash pure havoc at a party.
Play online against other players by creating a Custom Room. The four virtual cabinets in the room can be set to One on One, Extreme Battle, or Training. Custom Rooms can now include up to 16 players at a time!
Ranked Matches return and we’ve taken steps to reduce the pressure of losing a match in certain Ranks. First, we have added a one-time Rank-down protection feature for those in Diamond rank and below. Next, Rookies will no longer lose League Points upon defeat to encourage online play. Finally, Iron-Gold and Master rank players will not incur League demotions. Each character also has their own individual Rank, so trying new characters in Ranked Matches is more approachable than ever.
Street Fighter 6 Year One Post-launch Characters
Capcom also revealed at the showcase the post-launch content for the game as four more characters will be added to the game after launch starting with Rashid of the Turbulent Wind set to launch in Summer 2023. Next will be a character named A.K.I coming in Fall 2023, Street Fighter V’s Ed in early Winer 2024, and finally the beast himself Akuma sometime in Spring 2024. All of the Year 1 characters mentioned will be included as one of the mentors your unique fighter can learn from in the World Tour game mode when they go live. Those who purchase the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of Street Fighter 6 will have access to these characters when available.
You can watch the SF6 showcase here.
Street Fighter 6 is just around the corner as it’s set to launch on June 2 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam).
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
