Lies of P gameplay teaser makes me want to revisit Bloodborne
/South Korean developer Round8 released our first look at gameplay of their Soulslike action RPG Lies of P, a game inspired by the 1883 Italian novel Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, and it’s emitting this Bloodborne vibe.
Have a look at the gameplay teaser below as this game is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2023.
The gameplay is obviously inspired by the Souls franchise and has an eerie world populated by these freaky mechanical puppets that you need to deal with as Pinocchio himself, which is apparently more than equipped to handle such monstrosities.
In the video, it shows Pinocchio wielding an array of weapons from a sword, rapier, axe, a 1-handed saw-like weapon, to a 2-handed axe that seems to pack a punch. He also wields supernatural abilities as well and the game seems to have a counter system where if timed right, you can parry an incoming attack and leave your opponent open for attack.
The best part is that Pinocchio’s left arm is customizable, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice style, as you see him wield it as a flamethrower and even a grappling hook, which was used in the video to pull an enemy towards the player.
The video ends with a quick shot at one of the game’s boss encounters.
It looks like it’s worth keeping an eye out as the atmosphere and design just gives me the urge to download Bloodborne again. The game has a long way to go from release but we’ll get more details about Lies of P next week, specifically about the game’s story and features during G-Star, a video game convention in Korea that will run from November 17 to November 21.
