New Fable Trailer Unveiled at Xbox Games Showcase, Release Set for 2025
/During the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, developer Playground Games and Eidos Montreal revealed a stunning new trailer for the upcoming Fable game, a reboot title for the series featuring a mix of in-game visuals and cinematics.
Fan reactions looking mixed
Since the new trailer was released, it looks like the fan reaction is mix. As of May 10, the YouTube version of the new trailer received 11K likes compared to its 8.6K likes with over 200k views so far. Many in the comments section show hesitation more than excitement, with a good amount of people hoping they can create their own character, hinting at the fact that they are not keen with the protagonist shown in the trailer. Viewers are also expressing their concern that after years since the reveal of this title, we haven’t been given more details or shown clear gameplay footage and mechanics to really sell what Playground Games (Forza Horizon developers) are creating.
Here’s some new information on the game.
What does it mean to be a hero? In last year’s trailer, that question was answered by Dave, a gardener-turned-giant with a chip on his shoulder. This year, we get a much darker take from Humphry, played by the British comedy actor Matt King. Humphry was once Albion’s greatest Hero, but those glory days are long gone. In Fable, Humphry will be forced out of retirement when a mysterious figure from his past threatens the very existence of Albion.
Just like the other games announced in the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, the new Fable will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
