New TMNT: Shredder's Revenge trailer shows off April O'Neil's Street Fighter moves

During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021, a new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was presented and revealed April O'Neil as a playable character in the beat ‘em up 4-player action game, and she got some moves, moves that actually remind us of Street Fighter.

April looks like a fun character to play with her own moveset, buta few viewers noticed the inspirations of ms. O’Neil’s moves were similar to some Street Fighter characters. We saw her do Chun-li’s Tenshoukyaku from Street Fighter Alpha 3, Akuma’s dive kick, Guy’s slide, and even R. Mika’s butt attack, but th. It feels like April was designed to pay homage to Street Fighter.

Youtube channel Chaos Productions Inc made a quick video showcasing the similarities, which you can watch below.

It’s a cool catch and it makes me wonder if the turtles have similar moves hidden away that is sort of a bow to other iconic fighters from different games. Nevertheless, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge looks like it’s going to be a fun time to play with a friend or three and the pixel art design looks perfect as it reminds me of the classic TMNT beat ‘em up arcades that was released in the late 80s.

Here’s the official description for April O’Niel from Tribute Games:

"Sporting her iconic yellow jumpsuit and trusty reporting gear, April unleashes flurries of hits against the Foot Clan's devious soldiers via new gameplay. Her agility and far-reaching slide kicks help her close in on targets quickly, and she once again proves the turtles can rely on her unwavering support, even through slices of pizza."

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will be heading to the Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in 2022. No exact date or even a release window was given during the presentation.
