New World Guide: Best ways to earn Azoth

If you’ve been grinding away in Amazon Games Studio’s MMO New World I bet you’re aware of how valuable Azoth is in the game and how limited it can be at times. So here are the best ways to earn Azoth so you can maintain a healthy amount when you need it the most.
For those unaware, Azoth is a valuable resource in New World that is used to fast travel from one point to another. It’s the best way to get around and the amount of Azoth used is determined by how far your destination is, if your faction controls the region, and how many items you’re currently carrying in your character. Azoth is also used to increase the chances of adding perks to whatever equipment you craft in the many crafting professions available in the game.
With how valuable Azoth is in the game, a player can only carry 1,000 Azoth at a time, so make sure that you’re always using it to some degree as you don’t want to waste some Azoth simply because you’re maxed out.
Do the main quest and side quests
For starters, the main quest provides a generous amount of Azoth so be sure to progress through the main storyline and only if you have space to earn Azoth. You can earn around 100 easy with some quests while side quests gives you Azoth but most of them just give you 20 for the trouble.
Close Corrupted Portals
If you’re above level 25 and near Corrupted Portals, start closing some Corrupted portals found in the world. There are portals that can be done solo and can reward you with 20 Azoth for each portal. There are also more difficult portals that require a group, and if you can get a party going you’ll easily get over 500 Azoth by closing a few Corrupted Portals one after the other with some players.
This is not only a good way to get Azoth, it also provides a good amount of experience and some gear to salvage to earn some repair parts, in case you’re running out.
Participate in Wars and Invasions
The best place to earn a good chunk of Azoth is in Wars and Invasions, but we are aware that not everybody will get a chance to participate in every single War or Invasion in their respective server. If you find yourself securing a spot to one of these events, you’ll be rewarded around 200 Azoth and a few rewards for all your efforts.
Make sure you have the Azoth Attuned perk on your bags
When you explore the New World, you’ll notice some enemies will reward you with 10 Azoth all of a sudden. It’s a random reward that doesn’t happen often but is still a good surprise nonetheless. This is why I highly suggest you craft or buy bags that have the ‘Azoth Attuned’ perk, especially when you do a portal run with a few friends. This increases the amount of Azoth you earn (increase of up to 5%) so if you were able to score a bag with a perk like that, hold onto it.
Earn Azoth through gathering
Another way to earn Azoth is through gathering. Tools can have a perk called ‘Azoth Extraction’ which gives a player a chance to earn one Azoth when gathering. The chance of earning Azoth when gathering can be over 40% easily, so it will be easy to trigger the perk. You know how much time players spend on gathering so it would be ideal to have all your tools with this perk.
One Azoth may sound small but it stacks up rather quickly. I’ve earned 5 Azoth by simply clearing out a batch of Hemp in less than a minute. You’ll notice the effect of this perk in your Azoth reserves and you’ll appreciate it to a point that it will be hard to play the game without the perk active.
You can straight-up buy Azoth
If time is against you and you need Azoth right now, you can consider buying Suspended Vials of Azoth, a consumable item that gives you Azoth after use. It’s a very rare item that drops from any enemy in the world. I got a few so far and have been saving it for a rainy day. If you do happen to find one, you should save it too, and if you need some of these vials you can buy them off the Trading Post for a hefty price.
These are the most efficient ways to earn Azoth in New World so far. Remember that you can reduce the amount of Azoth used when fast traveling. Use your recall to see if it can reduce the distance between point A to Point B and make sure you're carrying not many items if Azoth is a worry for you at the moment.
