Operation New Blood Revamps The Recruit Operator, Adds Membership, and Nerfs Solis and Fenrir
/Ubisoft has revealed Rainbow Six Siege’s second season for Year 9 called Operation New Blood, which features a revamp of the Recruit Operator, a membership system, the full release of the Marketplace, changes to the Stadium map, balance changes to certain Operators, and more.
This season the R6 community isn’t getting a completely new Operator to make a dent in the meta as we are getting a remaster of the original Operator the Recruit. Once Operation New Blood goes live, there will be a recruit called Striker for Attackers and Sentry for Defenders.
Essentially, the concept of these Operators is that they bring a lot of customization to their loadout, replacing a unique gadget we usually see in traditional Operators. Players can pick a combination of two gadgets such as having Striker bring Claymores and Breach Charges, or Sentry going in a round with a Bulletproof Camera and Proximity Alarms. There’s a variety of combinations and extra gadgets from the Recruits could turn the tide for a team.
R6 Membership
Another big addition to this season is the introduction of R6 Membership, a monthly subscription service that rewards players with unique cosmetics, Battle Pass tier skips, Bravo Packs, access to the Premium Battle Pass. Players who opt to subscribe for multiple months will eventually be eligible for further rewards for being a member.
Fenrir and Solis Operator Nerfs
Both Defenders Solis and Fenrir are getting what seems to be massive nerfs to their unique gadgets. Solis, who can be an information denier and provider, will no longer be able to hunt for drones during the Defender Preperation phase. Her gadget will also have a shorter use time and she will need to get closer to a gadget to be revealed to her.
Fenrir was also affected in a similar way as his unique gadget is now more vulnerable as they are no longer bullet proof, so positioning is more important than even. They also reduced the total gadget count from five to four.
R6 Siege Marketplace going live on June 25
The Rainbow Six Siege Marketplace feature, which allows players to sell and buy cosmetic skins with the game’s premium currency called R6 Credits, will be leaving beta and will be available to all players starting June 25. All R6 accounts that are above Clearance Level 25 and have two-factor authentication active will have access to the Marketplace and all its features.
Operation New Blood also comes with a variety of new changes and additions. Players can now filter their map preferences for Standard play, warm up with the new Endless Drill mode, improvements to the game’s Spectator mode, new AI additions in Training mode, changes to the Stadium map, and the addition of Caster cards. Also, for a limited time, the Attrition Arcade game mode is coming back and its a rather interesting game mode where it starts with random Operators on both sides being unavailable and the pool of Operators will dwindle as the match progresses.
All these changes will be available in Siege’s test servers starting next week.
Rainbow Six Siege is now on its ninth year of content support from Ubisoft and is available through PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
