Overwatch 2’s Upcoming Story Missions Paywalled, Will Cost $15 for Season 6 Missions
/Blizzard announced that their upcoming story missions going live in Season 6 will be paywalled as you’ll need at least buy a $15 bundle to get access to these new missions.
Season 6 is named Invasion and here’s what a player will get if they choose to spend $15 for the bundle:
Access to the Overwatch 2: Invasion Story Missions, during the season and permanently after
1,000 Overwatch Coins (equal to the Premium Battle Pass, $10 USD value)
A brand-new Sojourn Legendary skin ($19 USD value)
Permanent access to Sojourn as a playable hero for new players: unlocked upon completing Story Mission challenges.
The three missions featured in the Invasion bundle will be missions that will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. Blizzard describes these story-based missions to have “complex objectives, and an in-depth storyline that will guide you along the way.”.
But of course, those interested can pay more as there’s an Ultimate Invasion Bundle for $40 that adds everything in the $15 bundle plus:
The Null Sector Premium Battle Pass with 20 Battle Pass skips ($30 USD value)
An additional 1,000 Overwatch Coins, for a total of 2,000 Overwatch Coins ($20 USD value)
Two additional Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko ($38 USD value).
Other additions coming in Season 6
Blizzard also revealed that season 6 will not only feature a new Hero (which was teased in the latest Invasion trailer shown above) but a co-op event taking place in the King’s Row map. The free-to-play game is also getting a new game mode for PvP called Flashpoint as it will be available in Quick Play and Competitive Play once the season goes live.
In this new game mode, teams will have to fight to control key positions across the map called” flashpoints”. Once you capture one, the team will then have to relocate and control the next flashpoint.
Lastly, season 6 will feature a Hero Mastery Mode, giving players a space to master their skills with a hero by going through a series of unique training courses specifically designed for each Hero in the game.
Blizzard plans to showcase what’s coming in this major content drop on June 21 in a reveal live stream. Overwatch 2: Invasion is set to launch on August 10.
This announcement comes weeks after Blizzard announces the cancellation of Overwatch 2’s story-based co-op campaign as they focus on the game’s live service. The remains of the canceled campaign are these story missions coming starting with Season 6 (the game is currently in Season 5) but only now did they detail the pricing and what to expect from them.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
