Patapon 1+2 Replay Announced at Nintendo Direct, Launching in July 2025
/Bandai Namco Entertainment, in cooperation with Sony Interactive Entertainment, announced Patapon 1+2 Replay, a new remastered package of the famed rhythm action game Patapon.
This is a remastered game of the first two games of the series with higher resolution to match today’s standards and platforms available. Beyond the added difficulty options and enhanced resolutions, this collection simply brings these classic rhythm games to modern platforms.
Here’s a breakdown of the collection’s features based on its Steam Page.
Patapon 1+2 Replay Key Features
PATAPON and PATAPON 2 are now a packaged set!
The two games, released in 2007 and 2008, are back as a remastered set!
The game involves 2 elements: simple controls and strategic combat!
The controls are incredibly simple, comprised of the rhythmic beating of four drums [Pata(←), Pon(→), Don(↓), Chaka(↑)].
At the same time, there are many strategic elements, such as using the right battle commands during the right situation, and creating an army comprised of the classes (jobs) of Patapons, creating a game that is easy to understand while still offering a challenge!
A Game full of Challenges and Variety!
Patapons can be made or enhanced using various items. On top of that, even stronger Patapons can be created by gathering materials from stages and minigames. The game contains 400 weapons and equipment to enhance and upgrade your Patapons!
Customize your army to your heart’s content and create a one-of-a-kind squadron to take on the various enemies and challenges this game has to offer!
New support features!
While the original game elements remain unchanged, new support features have been added for a more enjoyable gaming experience!
Newly implemented features found in this version allow players to adjust the standard difficulty between Easy, Normal, and Hard, adjust the timing of button presses, and keep the drum icon displayed at all times!
Enjoy the original PATAPON, made better with all-new features!
The Patapon series did have a third game released in 2011 and we are not sure why that game wasn’t roped into this collection. But regardless, the first two games is a solid offer as many back in the PlayStation Portable days would attest that Patapon was a must-buy for the handheld console at the time, making it a solid choice to pair it with your Switch in the future.
Patapon 1+2 Replay will launch worldwide on July 11, 2025 on the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC via Steam.
Who knows, maybe the performance of this collection could trigger an interest within Sony to release a new entry to the series. For now, there is also Ratatan, the upcoming spiritual succcessor to Patapon, where you also command an army of Ratatans through the beat of the music in order to attack the opposing force.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows greatly blends the classic Assassin’s Creed stealth with the RPG elements of recent entries. Its dynamic world, seasonal changes, and improved stealth mechanics make exploration a joy, but Yasuke’s restrictive gameplay and a half-baked notoriety system hold it back. After 30+ hours, it’s shaping up to be a strong entry, but will it stick the landing?"
