NCSoft announced Project M, an impressive narrative driven game using Unreal Engine 5

South Korean game developer NCSoft have announced Project M, an interactive narrative-driven game using the Unreal Engine 5 where player choice affects the outcome of the overall story.

Have a look at the Project M trailer blow as the motion capture and visuals are rather impressive.

According to NCSoft’s official website, Project M follows a man hell-bent on getting revenge for a girlfriend’s death. They describe this project as an interactive movie and aims to provide  realistic character expressions, movement with photo-realistic environments, as seen in the trailer below.

The game looks rather intriguing and you can clearly see the inspiration from other interactive games before it. There’s some sci-fi elements mixed in and we see button prompts during an intense scene, such as spamming the ‘X’ button or holding down two buttons together. Failure results in a different outcome.

In a report by Polygon, NCSoft’s principal development management officer stated that more development progress footage is planned in the form of “trailer videos, interviews, novels, and webtoons”.

NCSoft is a developer and publisher best known for publishing the MMORPG Guild Wars and Fuser. They also developed the MMORPG Lineage.

Project M is slated to release on consoles. No platforms or a release date were announced at this time.
