Stellar Blade Was Just Patched With a New Game Plus Mode Before Launch
/The upcoming action adventure Stellar Blade comes out on April 26 and before launch it was updated with a new game plus patch, allowing players to carry over most of their progress and unlocks to a new playthrough, playing the game from the very beginning.
Thankfully, Shift Up delivered just in time as when I went through the game for review, there was no New Game Plus mode available as completing the game only unlocks a new costume and Hard difficulty, the game’s third difficulty setting. Nothing else.
Playing the game from the start felt disappointing as a fresh save strips you of all the costumes and customization options you’ve unlocked in your previous playthrough.
Thankfully, those set to get the game on day 1 won’t have that problem thanks to the new update.
Here’s what carries over once you start a new game plus playthrough:
All equipment
Currency
Items
Records
Character enhancements
Drone upgrades
All acquired skills
All SP gained
Costumes earned
New Game Plus also unlocks new skills in the skill tree, but nothing too exciting as these new skills simply enhance the damage of certain Beta skills, a good addition, especially for those attempting Hard difficulty.
Update: a PlayStation Blog post confirms that the patch that adds new game plus revealed that there will be 34 additional costumes to earn for Eve, five new accesories, and two new costumes to earn for Adam, Lily, and your trusty drone in New Game Plus. There will also be better gear, and increased expansions for Tumbler (healing), weapon damage, and more.
Stellar Blade will be available on PlayStation 5.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure brings back Max Caulfield with new time-manipulation powers, but struggles to capture the original’s emotional weight. While the dual-timeline mechanic is engaging, the story’s weak twists, forgettable characters, and technical issues hold it back. A nostalgic revisit, but not a standout entry in the series.
