Techland claims that it will take 500 hours to fully complete Dying Light 2
/Developer has boasted that it would take 500 hours to fully complete the upcoming open world zombie game Dying Light 2 Stay Human. We are talking about the main campaign, side quests, and everything in between.
This is a rather unusual reveal as usual open world games would take roughly 20-30 hours to casually complete it’s main campaign with a few side quests and activities done by a player. For 100% completion, I’ve seen games that would require around 100 hours.
The 500 hours to complete was mentioned via Twitter and Techland had to further clarify Because many quickly started questioning the amount of content waiting for players this February. Their follow up tweet states that the game’s main story + side quests will take less than 100 hours.
This is a rather unusual marketing strategy as so much content doesn’t result in more value or fun. This is something I experienced first-hand when playing Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla back in 2020. That many hours doesn’t excite me, it only makes me question the types of content jammed into Dying Light 2 to make such a claim.
Will 500 hours result in multiple playthroughs? Picking up all the collectibles? Get multiple endings? The completionists that want that 100% achievement are either excited for shivering right about now.
If I remember correctly, I easily spent 50+ hours on the PS4 version and I'm currently going through the game once again on PC in preparation for the sequel’s release. But to think it would take 500 hours to get that 100% completion? yikes.
But regardless, I’m ecstatic to experience the sequel to the beloved Dying Light that was released back in 2015. An open world zombie game with satisfying melee combat and impressive parkour mechanics that make vertical traversal a fun activity. The game became so popular through the years that Techland continues to support the game even today. They even had a variety of Winter events that occurred last December.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human is out on February 4, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming.
