The 10 Games Featured In State Of Play February 2021
/PlayStation announced 10 games will be featured and that’s exactly what was delivered during the State of Play for February 2021. Here’s a quick rundown of what was revealed.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time coming to the PS5
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, the latest entry in the series is heading to the PS5 on March 12, 2021. It will come with a host of improvements from 60 FPS, and higher resolutions. The game will also utilize the PS5’s DualSense features, namely the adaptive triggers and precise rumble, as well as the activity cards available in the PS5’s HUD, which gives players hints on certain activities or trophies to assist the completionist in you.
Returnal gameplay deep dive
Returnal is shown yet again and shows more of the gameplay but nothing new if you’re someone attentively keeping an eye on Housemarque’s upcoming rogue-like game. It was delayed recently and is now releasing on April 30, 2021 for the PS5.
A better look at Knockout City gameplay
The dodgeball multiplayer will feature solo and team game modes. They detail the gameplay and it’s competitive nature as you can fake your throws, dodge, and do other sorts of tricks to outplay your opponent. The game will be out on May 21, 2021 and will have a cross-play beta before launch. Sign ups are now available for those interested in jumping in to try it out.
Team from Slowclap introduces Sifu
Sifu was announced and it’s being developed by the makers of Absolver. You play a young Kung-Fu student on “his path of revenge throughout the city”, according to Sony. Not much information is given at this moment but it’s currently slated for a 2021 release.
Solar Ash gameplay reveal
The action adventure Solar Ash is oozing with creative and colorful level designs with gameplay that seems to revolve about gaining momentum to traverse the areas quickly and efficiently. There will be large bosses called sentinels and are big enough to climb onto, becoming a stage itself. Solar Ash is set for a 2021 release for the PS5 and PS4.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach announced
The creepy animatronics are back and seems to be more of a survival horror now instead of a helpless security guard stuck in his seat, navigating cameras to keep the machines at bay until their shift is over. In here, you are being chased by these creepy machinery and you get to walk around and explore the building, hiding, surviving. Five Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach will be out this year for PS4 and PS5.
Oddworld: Soulstorm quick gameplay deep dive
We get a detailed look at Oddworld: Soulstorm and the features coming to this new entry to the Oddworld series. A platform that still lets you determine the fate of those you save during your playthrough. Active PS5 PS Plus members will get Oddworld Soulstorm for free as it’s one of the free games offering in April. The game will be out on other platforms on April 6, 2021.
New Kena: Bridge of Spirits gameplay trailer debuted, release date announced
We finally have a better look at how the game will play in this trailer and reveals Kena exploring different locations and fighting large battles against bosses in the game. The trailer also gives us an idea of the game’s story. Kena: Bridge of Spirits will be out on August 24, 2021 on PS5,PS4, and PC (Epic Games Store).
New Deathloop gameplay trailer
Another game where we finally get a good look at gameplay. Arkane Lyon debuts it’s most revealing Deathloop trailer yet, showcasing different ways to play the game from stealth, going guns blazing, or a mix of both in the hopes to break a never ending loop. Deathloop is still set to release on May 21, 2021 on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade announced, also getting a PS5 upgraded version
To end the show, PlayStation gives everyone an update on Final Fantasy VII Remake. It’s not about part 2 sadly, but the reveal of a new DLC episode called Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade which introduces Yuffie, a playable character back in the original game which joined Cloud and the rest of the group much later in the game. The DLC will be out on July 10, 2021 and will only be offered on the PS5.
Square Enix also announced a PlayStation 5 upgrade for Final Fantasy VII Remake. This version of the game offers 4K high-resolution graphics, 60 FPS, a detailed photo mode, a new difficulty added, faster load times, DualSense support, utilizing the haptic feedback feature.
Owners of either the physical or digital PS4 version of Final Fantasy Remake will get the PS5 version for free, and you can even carry over your saved data to your PS5 system.
I finally feel this fantasy journey coming to an end, and despite how much I've played, I’m surprised by how much I want to stay in this world. Another week with Metaphor: ReFantazio will be enough for a final verdict. But from everything I’ve experienced so far, it’s clear Metaphor is leaving a lasting mark.
