The Legend of Dragoon Patch 1.02 Fixes Softlock Issues and Other Bugs

The Legend of Dragoon was released this month on the PlayStation Store and is available for PS Plus, but welcomed with a softlock issue and a variety of bugs that fans of the JRPG noticed right away. Thankfully, after a few days since these issues came to light a 1.02 patch was released, fixing all major issues in this version of the PS1 classic.

The patch with the fix is 1.02, or to be more precise – patch 1.000.002 as seen when I booted my PlayStation system. Once you’ve updated your game, these issues were addressed according to the game’s community on Reddit.

Here’s the breakdown provided of what was fixed.

Issues Resolved

  • Dragoon Magic no longer softlocks the game.

  • Audio issues resolved (weird dampening effect, voices clipped off, etc.)

  • Blueish lines are gone

This patch doesn’t remove all issues as players have reported that some models are a bit “wonky”, and that there’s the extra spacing on the sides of the command bar. Minor stuff, but the main issue has been fixed – the softlock.

Go nuts as Dragoon magic seems to be safe to use and will not lock your game during battle. One user confirmed that they used Final Burst, Blossom Storm, and Astral Drain in a row with no issues.

It’s possible that more issues might show up as more players delve deeper into this version of the game, but it’s good to know Sony is keeping track and providing a fix this quickly.

The Legend of Dragon is a PS1 classic that came out in the late 90s and is now available to play on either the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 if you are subscribed to PlayStation Plus on the Premium/Deluxe tier. Players can also just buy the JRPG  as it’s currently priced at $9.99.
