2K announced a rather packed roster of cover athletes for the upcoming NBA 2k22, which is set to launch on September 10, 2021. Luka Dončić, Candace Parker, Kevin Durant, plus NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Dirk Nowitzi will grace the cover of this year’s NBA 2K game in their respective editions.

This year, there will be three editions available for purchase: Standard Edition, the Cross-Gen Digital Bundle, and the special NBA 75th Anniversary Edition.

NBA 2K22 Cover Athletes

The Standard Edition, which features Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić as the cover athlete, cost $59.99 (~ PHP 3,000) for the previous gen consoles (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC) while the new-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) will cost $69.99 (~ PHP 3,500).

In North America, players have the option to get a special version of the Standard Edition as it features six-time WNBA All Star and WNBA Champion Candace Parker as it’s cover athlete and will be exclusively available through GameStop and EB Games.

The Cross-Gen Digital Bundle will also feature Dončić and will cost you $79.99, which will give players access to both the previous-gen version and current-gen version of NBA 2K22 within the console family (Example, PS5 and PS4). The fact that this bundle exists shows that 2K won’t be providing a free upgrade from previous gen to current gen.

The 75th Anniversary Edition is the big one as it’s priced at $99.99 and will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It comes with the dual-gen access and celebrates three of the league’s most iconic big men who revolutionized the league over its 75 years; Hall of Famer, six-time NBA Champion and six-time MVP, and all-time NBA scoring leader, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. 14-time All-Star, NBA Champion and MVP, Dirk Nowitzki. And last but not least 11-time All-Star, league MVP and two-time NBA Champion, Kevin Durant.

Both the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition and Cross-Gen Digital Bundle features cover artwork painted by Atlanta-based artist, Charly Palmer, whose work in fine art is defined by complex compositions and a unique technique and style. Palmer’s work is exhibited across the nation; he is most recently known for his “Civil Rights” series of paintings and compositions titled “America Must Change,” which made waves as TIME Magazine’s cover in July 2020.
