United Gamers Guild held an Axie Infinity Tournament for victims of Typhoon Odette

United Gamers Guild (UGG), a blockchain gaming group for different blockchain games, held its first Axie Infinity back in December 2021 in partnership with the Youth Movement Initiative. The event resulted in the group donating a significant amount of Facebook Stars for the victims of Typhoon Odette that ravaged parts of the Visayas and Mindanao region in the Philippines.

The tournament featured the best Axie Infinity players within the UGG group as well as known content creators and streaming in the country competing for the 1,000 AXS prize. Once the tournament concluded, UGG donated 33,495 Facebook Stars to the Youth Movement Initiative who are helping those affected by the disaster.

It was a two-day event with 32 contestants that consist of streamers and content creators such as: AremzyTV, Chippu, Don Panda, Fifi, Gudz, Inzai, Ninyoww, Overxyze, Lex Aeterna, Pattie, Ruthless, Toothless, Ninong Nokz, to name a few.

UGG also held a variety of promos and giveaways throughout the tournament. There were cash prizes given out as well as 15 Axie Scholarships.

The event also featured an Axie infinity showmatch between comedian/streamer Roadfill and award-winning singer songwriter, Yeng Costantino.

The tournament concluded with Jobols Gaming crowned as the United Gamers All-Stars Tournament Grand Champion, beating Lunatic 3-2 in a best-of-five series.

During the event, Phillip Sebastian, CEO of UGG, talked about the vision of UGG, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from them in 2022:

“We have a dream with UGG, we wanted to be able to give back to the community. We want to help the players who play games on a casual daily basis be able to earn and benefit from their happiness and passion for being a gamer.”

“We also want to help educate that community on how you can find other play-to-earn games and what play-to-earn games they should be playing, and at the same time, support that community with an esports infrastructure like tournaments and events for the entire community.”

“To the entire gaming community this is the start! Look out for more events to come! This is the first step to the future of gaming!”
