XDefiant Season 2 Is Out Today, Introduces New Faction, Maps, Bomb Mode, and More
/Ubisoft has detailed what to expect from XDefiant’s Season 2 of content, which brings fresh content to the fast-paced, free-to-play arcade shooter developed by Ubisoft San Francisco. The season goes live today.
What's New in XDefiant’s Season 2?
XDefiant Season 2 introduces a range of interesting new content, including:
New Faction: The Highwaymen – Inspired by the survivors of Hope County 2035, this faction brings chaos to the battlefield with unique skills like the Saw Launcher, Scrap Turret, and M79 grenade launcher.
New Maps – Explore three new maps, including Waterfront (available today), Signal, and Air & Space (both coming later in the season).
New Weapons – Three free Battle Pass weapons are available: the PP19 SMG, SPAS-12 shotgun, and L86 LMG.
New Game Mode: Bomb – This mode, arriving in-season, challenges players to strategically defend or defuse a bomb in high-stakes matches.
Private Matches (Beta) – Customize matches with your choice of maps, modes, and rules in this new feature.
The Highwaymen Faction
Like previous seasons, season 2 includes a new faction for players to grind for as the Highwaymen are a ruthless group of survivors ready to wreak havoc in XDefiant.
Their signature weapon, the Saw Launcher, fires buzzsaw blades that ricochet off surfaces, slicing through enemies. They also come equipped with the Scrap Turret, a 360-degree machine gun, and the M79 grenade launcher. Their passive ability, Revved, boosts fire rate and reload speed with each kill, making them a formidable presence in any match.
Bomb Mode and Private Matches
After being teased last season, Bomb mode finally arrives in Season 2. This new arena mode requires a more tactical approach, as teams take turns defending and defusing a bomb. Players looking for more customization will be pleased with the introduction of Private Matches. These beta matches let you set up games with ranked or unranked rules and choose from any available maps and modes.
Upcoming In-Game Events
Season 2 also brings in-game events, starting with the Air & Space Event, which will debut alongside the new Air & Space map. More events will be added as the season progresses, giving players even more ways to enjoy XDefiant.
